Decentralized finance, centralized ownership? An iterative mapping process to measure protocol token distribution

In this paper, we analyze various Decentralized Finance (DeFi) protocols in terms of their token distributions. We propose an iterative mapping process that allows us to split aggregate holdings from custodial and escrow contracts assign them economic beneficiaries. This method accounts for liquidity-, lending-, staking-pools, as well wrappers, can be used break down holdings, even high nesting levels. compute individual address balances several snapshots intertemporal distribution changes. addition, study reallocation protocol usage data, a proxy measuring dependencies ecosystem integration. The paper offers new insights on DeFi interoperability ownership may serve foundation further research.
